The relationship between foster parents and birth family can play a key role in successful
reunification, or aid in a more successful adoption process. It is critical that caregivers and
professionals understand the need for the birth family connection when possible. This training
will focus on building communication skills and also enhance the participants’ understanding of
the impact of trauma on parenting, and the grief and loss of all parties involved.
