Our offices have clothing items, diapers, toys, books, backpacks, school supplies and other items available for foster families. Please email your needs to your Case Manager. They will check our current supplies for you.
Please keep in mind that our smaller offices have minimal space available but can contact other CFSF offices to check availability.
Honor Roll
Please contact at cija@cfsf.net if you have a foster child in middle or high school who has made the honor roll, or is graduating from high school. The generous donation from the family of Donald and Barbara VanderJagt has made it possible for us to honor the child’s accomplishment by sending a gift card for their use.
Foster Parent Alliance of Washington State (FPAWS) – https://www.fpaws.org/
FPAWS is a very helpful and great support to foster parents and foster children. They have a Facebook site with helpful information and opportunities for foster parents to interact with one another. They hold a Statewide annual caregiver conference at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA and regional training conferences around the State. Today, FPAWS is a support and advocacy organization representing adoptive/foster/kinship and birth parent voices at the Regional, State and National levels. FPAWS wants to meet caregivers and families where they are and help in any way we can. Their website offers a lot of resources, training opportunities, and other helpful information and they have a foster care support line for comprehensive resource, referral and information sharing (1-800-391-2273)

Treehouse’s mission is “Giving Foster Kids a Childhood and a Future”. They offer different supports to foster children which includes Educational Advocates. Other supports include funding for driver’s education and car insurance, clothing, school supplies, extracurricular activities, and educational needs. Treehouse also has some limited funding for tutoring needs. Any referral to Treehouse needs to be made by your DCYF SW or your case manager for any funding or educational advocacy.

Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence– https://allianceforchildwelfare.org/
Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence is one of the main providers for training to foster parents across Washington State. They currently have the State’s Retention contract providing extra support to foster parents. Alliance has some Facebook pages that you can join and be a part of: Look for Alliance Cares and you will see their different pages which includes, new foster parents, experienced foster parents, and kinship care.

A national organization mainly in CA/TX that provides luggage, gift boxes, bikes and college scholarships to foster youth. They aim to make it easy for people in any community to begin supporting local foster youth through them.

A Community of Practice working to improve the lives of high-risk children through education, research and the dissemination of innovation. They offer different articles and resources to help you gain information and ideas on how to help and support your foster children.
National Alliance of Mental Illness (nami) – https://www.nami.org/Home
Nami offers different resources, articles, educational videos, and other insights on mental illness issues and ways of supporting not only our foster kids but each other.
Governors’ Scholarship
The Washington State Governors’ Scholarship for Foster Youth provides $2,000 to $4,000 per year, for up to five years for youth who have or will emancipate from foster care in Washington State to attend college. Please take a moment to review the eligibility criteria on college success foundation’s website to determine if you have students who may be eligible.
Child Welfare Advocacy Coalition (CWAC)
Consists of public/private organizations, community members and child welfare partners follows bills that have impact to child welfare activities; meeting weekly (in person, Olympia or via conference call) during the 2013 Legislative Session and provides weekly updates. Bills of interest are highlighted and interested parties can access CWAC membership by following instructions in the CWAC Membership Framework. Click here for their website.
Tuck Me In Cards
From the National Foster Parent Association. Tuck Me In Cards offer foster families a new and inexpensive way to communicate. By referring to a card with predetermined questions, talking about everything is redirected to the activity on the card and focuses less on the person (at first). The goal is to, eventually, create a line of communication that can happen anytime based on the original use of the cards. Read more about Tuck Me In Cards here.

Kitsap Foster Care Association (KFCA) – The KFCA’s Mission Statement is “To support and inspire foster, kinship & adoptive caregivers through educational opportunities, enrichment activities & by advocating for foster children in our community.” They do a great job of this by hosting events such as a Foster Parent Appreciation Dinner, a Christmas gifts program, Pumpkin Patch, and the Ghost Train. They also have a Dream Project in which you can apply for an annual grant for your foster child(ren) and provide other opportunities such as a Back Pack Giveaway, Tacoma Rainiers tickets, and much more. New Beginnings Closet (Kitsap County and surrounding areas)– New Beginnings Closet provides resources to foster parents, adoptive parents, relative providers, FAR clients and low-income families in Kitsap County and surrounding areas. The Wishing Well Foundation – The Wishing Well provides new and gently-used clothing and school supplies to children 0-18 years of age who are currently placed in the foster care system in Pierce County or kids that are placed out of Pierce County. They also have furniture and other items available for foster parents. You can find them on Facebook or at their website.

Ali’s Prom Project – Ali’s Prom Project is committed to ensuring the opportunity for every teen to attend prom and other memorable events feeling confident, empowered and beautiful regardless of financial and personal circumstances. Clients schedule an appointment ahead of time. At their appointment a personal stylist will assist them in picking out the perfect gown, shoes and accessories (as available) for the event. Blue Skies for Children (Whatcom & Skagit Counties) – Their mission is to raise hope and self esteem by sponsoring enrichment activities and other essentials for homeless, low-income and foster children. Children First Family Services – is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide services to abused and neglected children and their caregivers. The primary mission of Children First Family Services is to provide support and services to speed the permanency process for children in foster care. Children are lingering in foster care for longer than the usual time frame of 18-24 months.

Children First Family Services (Whatcom &Skagit Counties) – CFFS serves children in Whatcom and Skagit counties. has grant money available for any kid who has been a victim of abuse or neglect. Kids currently in care as well as adopted kids qualify. We can provide $200 for basic needs like food and clothes kid. You will need to apply for their grants.

God’s Closet (Vancouver) – They collect new and gently used children’s clothes, then once a quarter we invite families in our community to join us for a fun SHOP-DAY. They have a Facebook page and a general webpage.

Voices for Children (Yakima area) – Voices for Children serves the Yakima area. They provide funding for activities and equipment for foster children through a Little Wishes program, free luggage, a foster closet and training and recruitment for CASA volunteers. http://voicesforchildrenyakima.org/
The Compassion Closet – The Compassionate Closet is a ministry located at the Foursquare church that comes along side and supports Kittitas counties Foster Families. They have most basic needs items for any child including clothes, toys, shoes, accessories, and baby gear. They have a Facebook page which you will need to join and become a member of.
Mo’s Place – Mo’s Place serves Tri-Cities/Walla Walla. They provide emergency bags for DCYF/law enforcement to help children newly entering care, emergency and after-hours support, training and networking for foster parents. They have a Facebook page and their phone number is (509) 416-6677.
Sewing Seeds (Kennewick area) – Sewing Seeds is located in Kennewick, WA. It is a Free Clothing Closet for Foster Families. They want help supply you with the everyday items your child or children may need. They have a Facebook page and their phone number is (253) 495-1511.

Teen and Kid Closet – is all about dignity for an often-overlooked population, children in need. The idea is simple. We give new or gently used clothing to children who need it for free. Our focus is youth in foster care or in poverty. Most of the youth we serve have no other access to nice clothes.
